SETTLEMENT SERVICES:

 

·         Accessing temporary shelters for newly arrived refugees and/or refugee claimants.

·         Information & orientation

·         Interpretation & translation services

·         General counselling (Family, Immigration, Legal)

·         Referrals (training, education, employment

·         Counselling and referral for internationally trained professionals etc.)

·         English as a Second Language

·         Support letters to Social Service Agencies, summer day camp

·         Acquiring Canadian experience through placement

 

 

EMPLOYMENT SERVICE

 

·         Pre-employment preparation

·         Job search & placement

·         Career planning

·         Counselling or training & education

·         Preparing Professional resumes and cover letters

·         Training in successful interview techniques and presentation skills

·         Assistance in business plan and start-ups

 

 

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT & INTEGRATION SERVICES

 

·         Assist in summer employment for students

·         Organizing youth activities

·         Workshops on issues affecting youth

·         Career counselling

·         Joint program with WLU on racialized minority youth

·         Joint program with mainstream organizations in Toronto

·         Organizes and supports sporting activities

·         Research on prevention of youth violence

 

 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES

 

·         Research on community health

·         Organizing community forums

·         Exploration of group economic opportunities

 

OTHER SERVICES

 

·         Free internet access

·         Information on labour market

·         Filling forms to get OHIP and SIN cards

·         Accessing proper Schools for Children and Adults

·         Providing information to find daycare and daycare subsidies

·         Assist in filling out application forms for housing and orient enants and Landlords Acts

·         Finding lawyers for clients who needed legal counseling

·         Writing immigration support letters for refugee claimants, newcomers as well as for citizens to different organizations.

·         Assist in sending and receiving fax and telephone messages

·         Interpretation services at shelters, hospitals and other medical settings, police stations, legal offices, family courts, Children’s Aid society and other social service agencies in Greater Toronto Area.
